| dc.description | By introducing real objects, using a model of pronunciation and demonstration for explaining any new words , learners will have greater enthusiasm in the learning process as well as remembering a number of English words to use them in a communicative manner. This research focuses on how to teach vocabulary using the 21st century skills at Libyan secondary schools . These techniques include using digital cameras ,streaming video and smart phones and these techniques help young learners to communicate their ideas and acquire vocabulary. Burmark ,(2002:5) argues that "with access to internet and an image –rich curriculum can reach more students and teach them more quickly and meaningfully than traditional written students reports and text based verbal instruction". | |
| dc.description.abstract | Vocabulary is one of the most important aspects of foreign language learning .It is an aspect that links the four skills of language (listening ,speaking ,reading and writing ).There are various approaches used for teaching language skills, one of them is the communicative approach. According to Littlewood ,(1981:963)"communicative approach is an approach to language teaching that emphasizes interaction as both the means and the ultimate goal of study". Without sufficient vocabulary any one cannot communicate effectively or express his/ her ideas . According to Thornbury, (2002:3) "Without vocabulary we cannot communicate effectively". There are different kinds of techniques that are used to teach vocabulary to young learners such as songs, cartoons and pictures . These techniques aim to put the isolated vocabulary into an integrated linguistic environment .
