The purpose of the study is to identify the phenomenon of style shifting during interpreting and explore the rendition of formal and informal styles by applying a quality assessment approach. This study also explores the purpose and the effect of adopting style shifting in interpreting renditions. The Sample of the study is comprised of thirty-two students studying at the Translation and Interpreting Studies Department at The Libyan Academy who acquire different interpreting levels as they range from novice interpreters to professionals who have practiced interpreting for years. A mixed research approach was used in this study to investigate the translatability of language style and the problems it entails in a consecutive interpreting setting. In this regard, a questionnaire was used to collect the quantitative data, whereas consecutive interpreting tests were used to collect the qualitative research data. The questionnaire consisted of three parts. The first part contains a personal information survey to collect information about the personal characteristics of the students in the study sample; the second part contains 3 questions on the interpreting training and experience of the students; the third part contains 5 questions on their background on interpreting different language styles and their awareness of style shifting as a result of transferring style in interpreting. The consecutive interpreting tests were used to have a detailed picture of the ability of interpreting students to transfer the informal and formal English styles into Arabic while interpreting. The data collected from these instruments was analyzed using descriptive statistics, a Pearson's correlation test, and both Wadensjo (1998) and Pochhacker (2001) interpreting quality assessment models
