الوصف
The enzootic cycle of B. burgdorferi involves both an Ixodes tick vector and a mammalian host, usually a small rodent (CDC, 20011; Levine, 1995). Humans are accidental hosts for B. burgdorferi and spirochetes from infected people generally are not transmitted to other hosts (Lane and Loye, 1991). The lifecycle of the Ixodes tick takes two years to complete (Figure 1); hard ticks consume three blood meals, one meal during each stage of their life (larvae, nymphs, and adults) (Nefedova et al., 2004). During these blood meals, B. burgdorferi transmits between its vector and host
