Passive Optical Network (PON) has attracted substantial research attention in the past few years. In particular, the wavelength division multiplexed ON (WDM-PON) provides certain benefits including increased speed, adaptability and network coverage. The amount of data that optical networks carry is immense, and it is very important that they are able to maintain their reliability. Unfortunately, there are many factors that can affect the reliability of these networks, such as natural disasters, construction works, and human errors. Having the necessary capabilities to detect and isolate a failure is very important for any network. One of the most important factors that can affect the network's reliability is failure recovery.
