dc.descriptionPassive Optical Network (PON) has attracted substantial research attention in the past few years. In particular, the wavelength division multiplexed ON (WDM-PON) provides certain benefits including increased speed, adaptability and network coverage. The amount of data that optical networks carry is immense, and it is very important that they are able to maintain their reliability. Unfortunately, there are many factors that can affect the reliability of these networks, such as natural disasters, construction works, and human errors. Having the necessary capabilities to detect and isolate a failure is very important for any network. One of the most important factors that can affect the network's reliability is failure recovery.
dc.description.abstractWDM-PON is a great technology used to provide a comprehensive service for a different application where a large number of subscribers desire to have more bandwidth due to the features of this technology with lower network cost service and maintenance. This project has summarized the previous related work on performance weaknesses which is relevant to the WDM-PON. Besides that, the proposed design of this project has been implemented successfully for different models.
