| dc.description | Wheat grain production varies from year to another year and hence grains should be stored strategically from overproduction to under year production. Stored grains can have losses in both quantity and quality. Losses occur when the grain is attacked by microorganisms and others including insects, mites, and birds (Neetirajan et al.,2007). Fungicides are still used to control of plant pathogens, however is being discouraged due to their human toxicity and the environmental pollution. A distinct group of Pest control agents is often called " biological control". The rapid growth of Trichoderma gives it an important advantage in the competition for space and nutrients with plant pathogenic fungi (Simon and Sivasithamparam , 1988) . | |
| dc.description.abstract | Fungal growth in grains may cause grain deleterious changes in addition to mycotoxins formation . Many spoilage fungi cause germination loss, discolouration and darkening of the grains. Fungal development may also encouraged mite and insect infestation (Wicklow,1995), contribute to heating and losses in nutritional value, deterioration in baking and milling quality, and can result in mycotoxins contamination (Hocking, 2003). | |
