Ammonia production arisesfrom the conversion of nitrogen gas present in the atmosphere into ammonium ions bythese bacteria, which leads to alkalinity of the soil and a rise in pH. In addition, thestudy also revealed a decrease in NFB numbers over time, indicating that sustainablegrowth and performance require other elements to support the continued growth ofammonia production. Which confirms the role of NFB in enhancing soil fertility byfixing nitrogen. Overall, the results underscore the potential of isolated NFB assustainable alternatives to nitrogen fertilization in sugarcane agriculture, helping toenhance agricultural production.
