The current study investigates teachers’ attitudes towards identifying the problems faced by Basic School Teachers (BSTs) in using games for teaching English vocabulary in Al-Khomes and suggests procedures that can be followed to overcome these problems. The aim is to ascertain the problems faced by teachers in teaching English vocabulary through games at basic schools in Al-Khomes City. Moreover, it aims to discover the factors that impede teachers’ use of games in teaching English vocabulary at these basic schools in Al-Khomes, and to provide some suggestions or recommendations that may help teachers to overcome such problems in teaching English vocabulary through using games. The quantitative data was collected through a questionnaire filled by forty Libyan English BSTs from Al-Khomes, and the qualitative data was collected through semi-structured interviews with five BSTs from the same sample. The participants were selected through snowball and convenience sampling techniques. The results of this research indicate that BSTs face some problems when utilizing games to teach English vocabulary. These are difficulties in applying the games, lack of training, lack of supporting materials, and classroom management; the number of students, and the classroom environment. Additionally, some suggestions were recommended to assist teachers in overcoming these challenges to facilitate the process of teaching English vocabulary through games.
