European Union is the largest
producer of olives and its products having a share of 75% of world’s
olive production (FAO, 2020). Conventional methods of breeding and
multiplication represent an important solution to the crop problems,
especially the increasing demand for plants needed for new orchards.
However, these techniques have become unable to achieve significant
results because of the long juvenile period of the species Also, in vitro
propagation techniques are currently a commercial reality for the
multiplication of several olive cultivars (Rugini et al., 2020)
