Information technology and especially management information systems plays an important
role in bringing about fundamental changes in the operations themselves, making them a key
and essential part of these processes. It also enables organizations to open channels of
communication with all of their stakeholders and gives them sufficient flexibility to adapt to
developments in processes itself or the external environment, in addition to reducing the costs
through control of the inventory and orders, and the organization of transport and shipping.
All of this depends on the organization's ability to employ appropriate information technology
and management information systems operations in a manner consistent with the surrounding
environment. Linking of the information technology and management information systems
with the supply chains control and organization is crucial to increase performance and the
efficiency of the chains.
