Abstract The study aimed to reveal the relationship between emotional intelligence and academic achievement in third-year high school students, and revealed a relationship between emotional intelligence and academic achievement according to the gender variant. The study used the descriptive and analytical approach to suit the nature of this study. The sample of the study included students of the third year of secondary in the city of Sabratha. Two schools were selected: Sabratha Secondary School for Boys, and Sabratha Secondary School for Girls. The study community is represented by (365) students. The study sample included (106) students, (49) males (57) females, ranging in age from (19, 18, 17) years. To achieve the goals, the emotional intelligence scale was used for (Bar- on& Parker) translation (Rizkallah Randa 2006), and the academic achievement of the final grades of students. The researcher followed a set of statistical methods to answer the study's questions, and the study reached the following results: -There is a high level of emotional intelligence among third-year high school students in the city of Sabratha.
