dc.descriptionThis study aims to analyze criminal mediation as a modern judicial mechanism for the protection of juvenile offenders within the Libyan legal system, in light of the growing international emphasis on restorative justice as an alternative to traditional punitive approaches. The research explores the conceptual and legal framework of criminal mediation, highlighting its nature, objectives, and mechanisms of application, particularly in the field of juvenile justice. The study adopts a descriptive-analytical approach to examine the concept of criminal mediation, along with a comparative method to review selected foreign legislations that have implemented this mechanism, in order to assess the possibility of adapting it within the Libyan legal framework. The findings indicate that criminal mediation represents an effective tool for balancing societal interests with the protection of juvenile offenders by promoting rehabilitation and reducing the negative impacts of conventional criminal procedures.
