Mobile communication is the most important technology in the telecommunication industry because of its great features like providing access to users at anytime and anywhere in the world. Communication everywhere, with everybody, and at any time was the dream and goal of researchers, engineers and users, since the advent of the first wireless communication systems. Many evolutions in the technology as digitalization of communication systems, enormous progress in microelectronics, computers and software technology, the invention of efficient algorithms and procedures for compression, security and processing of all kinds of signals, as well as the development of flexible communication protocols have all helped to reach that goal. Today, technologies are available that enable the realization of high-performance and cost-effective communication systems for many application areas.
