The main purpose of this qualitative research was to examine teachers’ perceptions toward introducing Communicative Language Teaching in some secondary schools of Batin Al Jabal Municipality to identify difficulties faced by those teachers in using CLT. In the literature reviewed for the current research, introducing CLT has a positive impact on English language learning outcomes, however, the efficiency of CLT implementation is questioned for the poor quality of English language learning and teaching. To bridge this gap, an extensive investigation was conducted to pinpoint areas that can be enhanced in English language learning and teaching. The study used qualitative research methods to understand the perspectives of teachers involved in introducing CLT in their classrooms. Data collection methods were classroom observations and semi structured interviews of six EFL teachers, analysed and coded thematically. Results have shown that participants perceived CLT as an essential approach of English language teaching but favoured traditional teaching practice and teacher-centred instruction reflecting a culture and pedagogical duality. These findings could be attributed to the lack of teachers’ ongoing professional development and training programmes and students’ passive learning style.
