The researcher assesses the effect of comprehension strategies for improving students’ skills to understand medical texts. The findings indicate that the experimental group outperforms the control group in the tests. This is an indication of the fact that using the strategies has a significant positive effect on students’ comprehensionAbstract The study aims at collecting and analyzing Libyan students’ errors in order to investigate students’ problems in comprehending their university medical course books at the Higher Institute of Medical Sciences in Libya. The sample of the study consists of 31 students. They are randomly selected and assigned to experimental and control groups. The data used for the purpose of this study are collected via pre-post- test. The experimental groups are taught by using the adopted reading comprehension strategies, whereas the control groups are taught by using the conventional procedures.
