The metallurgical and mechanical properties of metals can be achieved with proper heat treatment or with the addition of other materials that boost the condition of the mechanical properties. Brass is one of the copper alloys which is widely used in several applications such as material industries. This is due to its properties and excellent characteristics, such as the high corrosion in resistance, non- magnetism, and good forging performance. In this research, investigation was conducted on the effect of adding various percentage of cerium oxide to brass namely 0.1, 0.3, 0.5 and 0.7 wt. %. The samples were prepared by gravity die casting process and heat treated at the temperature of 450ºC with the heating rate of 15ºC/minThe global technical market demand trends for high strength, high performance, better quality, reduced cost, and reduced weight materials have led to an emerging development in metallurgical and mechanical properties research and utilization of composite materials over conventional monolithic materials in various industrial applications.
