Thirty-five EFL teachers from a total of 45 EFL teachers from seven colleges of the university were involved in the present study. Three main research questions were posed to achieve this aim. This study utilized a mixed method research design that incorporates both qualitative and quantitative data collection tools. They are a closed-ended questionnaire for collecting quantitative data, and a semi structured interview for collecting qualitative data. Quantitative data were analyzed using Excel Microsoft program and qualitative data were analyzed using content analysis. The main findings revealed that the majority of EFL teachers at Gharyan University positively perceive learner autonomy, and their positive perceptions are reflected in the variety of strategies they utilized for promoting LA. On the other hand, the findings uncovered that those teachers encounter various challenges, which in one way or another hinder the promotion of learner autonomy among their students. Finally, the present study calls for some recommendations and further studies to be carried out to gain deeper understanding about teachers' perceptions regarding their role in autonomous learning, and learners' perceptions on autonomous learning to obtain a complete vision about promoting learner autonomy at the tertiary level. This dissertation investigates the perceptions of EFL teachers at Gharyan University regarding promoting learner autonomy.
