Cardiac risk ratio (CRR) was statistically higher in the HS group than the other groups, where in the order GT<GT+HS<HS. A similar trend was observed with results of atherogenic coefficient and atherogenic index of plasma. A remarkable reduction in the activities of AST, ALT, CK and LDH indicated that the extracts of GT, HS and GT+HS may have the potential of reducing the factors that produce myocardial infarction. XIVThe present study was conducted to evaluate phytochemical contents, antioxidant and the in vivo antilipidimic properties of aqueous extracts from the leaves of Hammada scoparia (Rimth, HS) and Camellia sinensis (Green tea, GT). The lipolytic influence of aqueous extracts of HS and GT as well as the combination of HS+GT extracts was evaluated on N.Z. white rabbits. Twenty rabbits, divided into four groups were treated with the extracts of HS, GT, HS+GT and physiological saline as control. The phytochemical screening showed that investigated GT and HS are rich in flavonoids, tannins, saponins and contain moderate contents of terpenes and anthraquinones. alkaloid content of HS was higher than GT. The total phenolic of GT was significantly higher than HS (P<0.05), extract of HS showed higher amount of flvonoids compared with GT extract. Their antioxidant activity was estimated using DPPH as free radical scavengers, the reducing potential of their extracts exhibited general increase in activity by increasing the concentration. The contents of Glucose, LDL-C, VLDL-C, TC and TG were significantly lower than their counterparts in control rabbits.
