A detailed analysis of CFA's physical properties and chemical composition is presented to provide a foundational understanding. It then discusses the various uses of CFA and assesses its performance when incorporated into Hot Mix Asphalt (HMA) and as a stabilizing component in the base course. Additionally, the review examines the coating of road layers, including the application of prime coats, and evaluates the performance of modified coatings through penetration, pull-off, direct shear tests, and curing time of prime coats.Ensuring the longevity and performance of road infrastructure is crucial for economic and social development, with construction materials playing a vital role in achieving these goals. To address both environmental and engineering challenges, there is growing interest in utilizing industrial byproducts like coal fly ash (CFA), which can reduce waste, mitigate disposal issues, and improve pavement durability. As coal continues to fuel nearly 40% of global electricity, the disposal of the resulting CFA presents significant environmental risks. Therefore, this research aims to investigate the suitability of CFA as an alternative additive and bonding enhancer in asphalt pavement, offering a sustainable solution to enhance road performance while addressing environmental concerns.COAL FLY ASH AS AN ALTERNATIVE ADDITIVECOAL FLY ASH AS AN ALTERNATIVE ADDITIVE AND BONDING ENHANCER IN ASPHALT PAVEMENT
