Hence, the accumulation of heavy metals in the environment is increasing concern due to the food safety issues and potential health risks. Plants are important components of ecosystems as they transfer elements from a biotic into biotic environments. The primary sources of elements from the environment to plants are: air, water and the soil.Food contains a wide range of metallic elements (metals) such sodium, potassium, iron, calcium, boron, magnesium, and zinc. These elements are essential in trace quantities for the maintenance of cellular processes. Other metallic elements have no functional effects in the body and can be harmful to health if food stuffs containing them. The majority of metals are natural components of the earth’s crust. Metals and other elements can be naturally present in food or can enter food as a result of human activities such as industrial and agricultural processes. The toxicity of these metals is in part due to the fact that they accumulate in biological tissues, in a process known a bioaccumulation.Determining Levels Of Some Toxic Mineral ElementsDetermining levels of some toxic mineral elements in home-prepared libyan foods
