The methodology of this thesis is divided into two parts, the Theoretical Part which basically contains an introduction of the electrical industry history, and also covered the main aspects of the Occupational health and safety management System (OHSMS) . xvi The Practical Part study presents A gap Analysis between the current situation in Tripoli South Power Generation Plant (TSPGP) and Occupational Health and Safety Management System Requirements by gathering the data obtained from the site survey and interviewing with the Tripoli South Power Generation Plant Staff and then filling the OH&S Management System Audit check list according to three types of answering categories as Conformance, Partial Conformance and Non conformance based on the Occupational Health and Safety Management System Requirements .SPSS for windows was also used as software to process and analyize the statistical dataThe electric energy demand of the world is continuously increasing, and most of the energy is generated by conventional power plants, which remain the only cost-effective method for generating large quantities of energy. Power plants utilize energy stored in the earth and convert it to electrical energy that is distributed and used by customers. This process converts most of the energy into heat, which increases the entropy of the earth. In this sense, power plants deplete the earth’s energy supply. Efficient operation becomes increasingly important to conserve energy. Typical energy sources used by power plants include fossil fuel (gas, oil, and coal), nuclear fuel (uranium), geothermal energy (hot water, steam), and hydro energy (water falling through a head). The General Electricity Company of Libya (GECOL) has many accidents and incidents that happened during the operation and maintenance processes and as a result from unexpected equipment failure and human error specially in Tripoli South Power Generation Plant (TSPGP), that may cause burns, cuts and fractions for the power plant employees or property damage for the equipments such as turbines, generators and transformers, etc.occupational health and safety management
