The main object of this Dissertation is to study the effect of sand and dust storms on microwave communication links, in the AL-Joufrah region by determining the attenuation, phase shift. and cross depolarization. The result showed that there is some consideration that has to be taken into account in the microwave communication link.Microwave communication in southern parts of Libya may be affected by dust and sand storms. AL-Joufrah region is located at mid south of Libya has high wind speed, and has too frequent dust storms. Microwave signals in this area may suffer some attenuation and depolarization due to the presence of any carried particles in air. The effect of the dust particles on the microwave links in this area has not been studied previously and this is the first to study it. The study of electromagnetic signals propagation in microwave band through dust storm, requires knowledge of some of the electrical properties of the dust particles and climate conditions at the studied region. This required to collecting of samples of sand and dust particles, measure their concentration, particle size distribution and chemical analysis which essential to calculate the complex permittivity of samples.Effects of Suspended Dust Particles in Air During Sand StormsEffects of suspended dust particles in air during sand storms on microwave links case study al-joufrah region
