However, the standard doses of this drug cause adverse side effects on normal tissues which seriously affect the quality of a patient’s life. Oleuropein (OLEU), is a natural compound, that has been mentioned to have inhibitory effects on various cancers and its combination with other chemotherapeutic drugs was reported to allow significantly lower doses. AIM: The main objective of this study was to assess the cytotoxic effect of OLEU and the chemotherapeutic drug 5-FU on TSCC cell line (HNO-97) and human normal oral epithelial cell line (OEC) by either using each drug separately or in combination.
