The heat mercenaries in the recirculation region was 335900 kcal / hr -599400 kcal /hr. at a moisture content of 0.1 – 0.13 kg /kg d .f. 19 These results show the process sensitivity to moisture content and the necessity to be well controlled in the process . study of the effect of steam on the kiln reactor is made in this thesis . The effect of surface emissivity on thermal losses are also made in this thesis . The thermal losses is more than double by increasing the emissivity from 0.8 to 1.04 . The effect of rotary kiln reactor rotation on heat transfer coefficient is studied . An increase of rotation speed from 3 to 3.9 (r .p .m) has led to an increase in thermal losses from 137.96 to 290.62 kcal/kg d .f .There are continuous increase in demand for thermoplastics in the world. An increase in the volume of waste plastics is a result of this tremendous uses in industries and house hold uses. The concern development of different routes to utilize the waste plastics. These environmental protection and resource conservation have led to the concentration on landfilling , Incineration , recycling and gasification's . In this thesis a literature is reviewed for these four different technologies and the merits and demerits are discussed. Rotary kiln reactor is one of the most widely used industrial reactor used in waste plastics treatment in the world . Heat transfer study is made to model the behavior of the processing of waste plastics at high temperature . The radiant heat transfer in the combustion region is controlling at the boundary flame .A simplified model is made to represent the heat transfer mechanism in the region. A mixture of waste plastics using different blends of thermoplastics and thermosetting plastic are burned in the rotary kiln reactor to produce different gases including industrial gas to be used as raw materials in petro chemical industries. Sensitivity analysis have been made in this thesis to study the effect of refractories thickness in the rotary kiln reactor on the surface temperature of the kiln .It is found that the optimum thickness of the refractories are in the range of 0.06 m to 0.078 m with surface temperature ranging from 168 – 135  C . The thermal loss will be limited to a value of 137.96 -290.62 k Cal /kg d . f .incineration and gasification of wast plasticsRecycling incineration and gasification of wast plastics
