This introductory chapter outlines this study by describing its background, and scope, as well as the problem statement, research objectives (ROs), research questions (RQs), research's significance, terms' definitions, along with chapter summary. This study identified, analyzed, and summarized the use of metaphorical constructions deployed by the late Libyan leader from a symbolic perspective. The meaning embedded in the final speech given by Al Ghaddafi reflected in the metaphorical constructions was analyzed in this study via the incorporation of critical discourse analysis (CDA) and conceptual metaphor theory (CMT) in critical metaphor analysis (CMA).
