Today, the field of wireless mobile communication is exploding, including a wide range of technical fields. Over the last few years, it has been suggested that antenna arrays be used in mobile communications systems to overcome the problem of restricted channel bandwidth, thereby meeting the ever-increasing demand for a large number of mobiles on communications channels.[1]. Many studies have shown that employing an array in a mobile communications system improves system performance by increasing channel capacity and spectrum efficiency, extending range coverage, tailoring beam shape, steering multiple beams to track multiple mobiles, and electronically compensating aperture distortion. Multipath fading, channel interferences, system complexity and cost, BER, and outage likelihood are all reduced as well. Adaptive antennas and the algorithms that govern them have been suggested to be critical to the development of high-capacity communications systems.
