الوصف
The purpose of this thesis is to study the effect of TIG, MIG & SMAW welding on FE490 carbon steel as well as the best welding process Welded joints were exposed to non-destructive testing; visual, dye penetrant and radiography tests before splitting them for different destructive tests to obtain the best results. The experiments tests performed in this research determined that the MIG welding process is better than the other processes; the optimization method for different uses. Economically, MIG welding processes are faster and more quantitative. This is related to mainly to the higher the welding speed, the lower the amount of heat input, and the relationship between them linear and reverse. The tensile tests result of, MIG welding, SMAW, were better than the properties obtained in TIG for the joint welding. The fracture occurred outside the in welded joint samples MIG and SMAW, indicating that the mechanical properties of the joint welding are stronger than the mechanical properties of the base metal (FE490). The hardness measurement of MIG and SMAW is higher than that the TIG weld metal and the highest hardness values are in the heat affect zone (HAZ) adjacent to the joint welding.
