Taking into consideration the risk of adverse impact of the wastes on human health and the environment, improper disposal of the municipal solid waste (MSW), lack of recycle applications, being the fossil fuel as a scarce resource, and required energy for the coming generation make the problem of the Municipal Solid Wastes unique and challenging as a renewable energy resource. In terms of turning the threats to opportunity, implementing of anaerobic digestion plants can participate in producing biogas and fertilizer, and reducing the greenhouse gas emission. This thesis describes the design and manufacturing a pilot of batch load-anaerobic digester and investigating the biogas production exploiting the organic fraction of municipal solid wastes. The digester was designed and manufactured, where it is consisting of a mixer, heater, thermostats device, pH meter, water circulation pump, and taking into consideration design flexibility to allow further researching. The batch digester is of overall digester tank 28.7 liters, mixture volume 23 liters, municipal solid waste weight 2.3 kg, 4.6 liters of inoculum, and water volume 16.1 liters. During investigating the biogas production from the municipal solid waste through the manufactured digester, the biogas production was investigated, Retention time was about four days, the total biogas production was about 40.58 liters, and the average of the methane concentration was 44.1%
