The protozoan was first discovered by Nicolle & Manceaux, who in 1908 isolated it from the African rodent Ctenodactylus gondii, then in 1909 differentiated from Leishmania and named it Toxoplasma gondii. The first recorded congenital case was not until 1923, and the first adult case not until 1940 (Sukthana, 2006). In 1948 , a serological dye test was created by Sabin & Feldman, which is now the standard basis for diagnostic tests, Study Toxoplasma Serology Laboratory
Toxoplasmosis is a disease that results from infection with the Toxoplasma gondii parasite, one of the world's most common parasites. Toxoplasmosis may cause flu-like symptoms in some people, but most people affected never develop signs and symptoms. For infants born from infected mothers and for people with weakened immune systems, toxoplasmosis can cause extremely serious complications.
