This research concentrated on creating a straightforward and tailored treatment technique specifically designed for the Zelten oil field in Libya. Samples were taken from both the outland separators and the disposal pit at this level. We examined water samples for hydrocarbons, heavy metals, chemical oxygen demand, turbidity, salinity, and total dissolved solids, both prior to and following various treatment processes: sand filter, sand-dolomite filter, activated carbon-sand filter, sand-activated carbon-dolomite filter, and solvent extraction. The efficacy of TPH therapy was assessed using gas chromatography-mass spectrometry.
Oil produced water (OPW) is formed when subterranean water is extracted to the surface during oil or gas extraction. It possesses a complicated makeup comprising different hazardous organic and inorganic pollutants. This is associated with the many factors and operational circumstances. These chemicals are typically insoluble and dispersed in water in the form of an emulsion. The disposal of this generated water is problematic due to the detrimental environmental impacts resulting from pollutant toxicity and high salt levels.
