| dc.description | Cancer is the leading cause of morbidity and mortality in the world. The environment may contain harmful chemicals that can increase the risk of cancer. Even if you do not smoke you may be exposed to secondhand smoke if you go somewhere, where people smoke or if you live with someone who dose.Chemicals, in the home or workplace, such as asbestos and benzene, are also linked to an increased risk of cancer. Environmental agents include: physical carcinogens - ultraviolet and ionizing radiation chemical carcinogens-components of tobacco smoke, aflatoxin, asbestos, arsenic biological carcinogens - viruses, bacteria or parasites (Siegel et al., 2018). | |
