dc.descriptionThe electrical lines in the electrical network of Misurata free zone do not have adequate protection. So, these lines are always susceptible to many electrical failures; therefore, This project aims to perform the calculation of settings of the protection relays of (30/11 kV) Misurata Free Zone electrical network and to verify the relevant protection coordination. This calculation shall be based on the protection philosophy and setting criteria for the GECOL Company. The setting and coordination activity includes a complete computation of relay settings together with a systematic protection coordination check, aiming at verifying and confirming the validity of implemented values and their compliance with the selectivity criteria .
dc.description.abstractThe electrical lines in the electrical network of Misurata free zone do not have adequate protection. So, these lines are always susceptible to many electrical failures; therefore, This project aims to perform the calculation of settings of the protection relays of (30/11 kV) Misurata Free Zone electrical network and to verify the relevant protection coordination. This calculation shall be based on the protection philosophy and setting criteria for the GECOL Company. The setting and coordination activity includes a complete computation of relay settings together with a systematic protection coordination check, aiming at verifying and confirming the validity of implemented values and their compliance with the selectivity criteria . Three different scenarios were applied and compared firstly using overcurrent (OC) relay, secondly using distance relay, and finally using distance and OC relays together, and the results showed that the third scenario is the best amongthem. NEPLAN software is proposed to perform this aim.
