dc.description5G wireless networks, characterized by ultra-high-speed data rates and massive connectivity, face a significant challenge due to their susceptibility to signal interference. This stems from the higher frequencies used in 5G, leading to issues like attenuation and blockages. High-gain antennas emerge as a crucial solution (AlyAboul-Dahab, Mahmoud Ghouz, & Ahmed Zaki, 2016), extending signal range, improving penetration in dense environments, and reducing interference, thereby enhancing overall network performance.
dc.description.abstractThis work proposes a metasurface antenna as a solution to the demand for high- gain antennas within 5G wireless networks, a critical requirement for diminishing interference and ensuring resilient signal transmission. Utilising metamaterial surfaces (MTS) as a strategic remedy, the study proposes an advanced high-gain meta-surface antenna explicitly designed for 5G applications. The metasurface can enhance the gain for commonly known low profile compact antenna such as fractal patch. The compact structure would be an advantage in small space installation. However, the compact structure inherits low gain performance.
