| dc.description | There has been an increasing awareness of and concern for environmental issues in Libya. These concerns have found expression in a broad range of agriculture officials. They have also led to legislation, regulation and expenditure by government, at national and local levels, to protect the environment. Recently, the agriculture project in Libya has been reemerging after for nearly two decades. Billions of dollars are available to activate the projects of the country. This task required huge investments, and a stable economy. Whether the country's economy can sustain such activities remains to be seen. | |
| dc.description.abstract | The fight against desertification in Libya has experienced several changes over the last fifty years, and tremendous efforts in Libya have gone into rehabilitating land into productive uses with great contribution to existing knowledge in reclaiming desertified land. Clearly, it is not possible to give a detailed account of the efforts to combating land degradation and desertification in all of its forms by each area in this vast geographical country. Instead, we have selected specific example and case study from across the region that exemplify the same approaches from labor intensive, low technology solutions to large-scale measures that rely more on technology. Early in 1965, the fight against desertification was on a limited scale, when the funds are limited, and in these early years, it was regarded as a social activity development project. | |
