This study examines the role of the Arab League in addressing internal conflicts, focusing on the Syrian case, considered one of the most complex crises in modern Arab history. The study is based on the premise that, despite the Arab League's institutional and regional mechanisms for intervention, its impact on the Syrian crisis has been limited due to internal political and organizational factors. The study adopts a descriptive and analytical approach, supported by a case study, analyzing the resolutions and initiatives issued by the League since the beginning of the crisis in 2011, in addition to extrapolating the positions and interactions of member states regarding the Syrian issue. The study aims to assess the League's success in providing a collective framework for conflict resolution, highlighting the challenges it faced in exercising its mediation role, including political divisions among its members and limited implementation tools. It also explores the possibility of developing mechanisms for joint Arab action to enable effective handling of internal conflicts without compromising the principle of sovereignty. The study concludes with a set of findings that clarify the limits of the official Arab role in conflict resolution and presents a set of recommendations to enhance the effectiveness of the Arab League in the future through institutional reforms and the activation of preventive diplomacy.
