| dc.description | There are five suggested designs (configurations) for the current Steam plant (Reheating cycle, Regeneration with a single open feedwater heater, Regeneration with closed feedwater heater, Regeneration with closed feedwater heater and pumped condensate and Rehating and are closed feedwater heater ), while one suggested design for the current gas plant (Combined cycle). Obtained results were good in terms of reducing gas emissions polluting and in terms of increased efficiency. Whereas, the combined cycle gave a high efficiency, lesser amount of energy and money losses than other configurations. Efficiency of the combined cycle process reaches 44%. This development on the current stations is reflected positively on the environment as this will reduce gas emissions as a result of decreasing the heating rate. Whereas using combined cycle leads to reduction of gaseous emission; (SO2 reduced up to 100%, VOC's reduced up to 100 % ,CO2 reduced up to 75.8%, and, NOx reduced up to 20%). | |
| dc.description.abstract | A power station (power plant) is an industrial facility for the generation of an electric power, for using in all sectors of alive (industrial and civilization). Power stations are the most obvious cause of industrial air pollution Steam, gas and combined stations are the main source for generating electricity in Libya. These stations emitted a huge amount of carbon dioxide, and the greenhouse gases are responsible for global warming, as well as Nitrogen oxide, and acid gases such as sulfur oxide are affect the human health and vegetation. So, this work focused on Steam and Gas stations that located in Khmos city. Where a simulation process of the current stations by HYSYS to examine the possibility of upgrading the efficiency. Optimization of the efficiencies of simulate steam and gas power stations with HYSYS software are done to get the highest possible economic benefit. The proposed suggested designs aims to improve the overall efficiency and reduce the cost of maintenance, reduce fuel consumption and reduce pollution emissions. | |
