The effect of sodium chloride (NaCl) concentrations on growth, osmotic potential and protein contents was investigated. It possible to conclude that the high concentration of 4000ppm NaCl resulted in reduction in plant height and the other yield related traits such as shoot fresh weight, shoot dry weight and root dry weight with varied proportions among the tomato genotypes. The reduction in plant height as response for salt stress ranged from 7.01% in cultivar UC3-97 to 31.92% in cultivar GS of the 0 concentration NaCl. . Reduction shoot fresh weight as response for salt stress ranged from 6.80% in cultivar UC3-97 to 33.50% in cultivar GS of the 0 concentration NaCl. Moreover, Reduction shoot dry weight as response for salt stress ranged from 6.49% in cultivar UC3-97 to 28.93% in cultivar N23 followed by 28.33% in cultivar GS of the 0 concentration NaCl. Finally, Reduction root dry weight as response for salt stress ranged from 6.22% in cultivar UC3-97 to 32.63% in cultivar GS of the control. These results indicated that cultivar UC3-97 was the most salt tolerant and cultivar GS was the most salt sensitive among the eight cultivars
