This study analyzed the hydrographic network southwest of Al-Zintan City based on morphometric characteristics. Remote Sensing and Geographic Information System (GIS) techniques were the primary tools used to analyze the network and its morphometric characteristics. The importance of this research arises from the need to understand the characteristics of drainage basins in arid and semi-arid environments, where the scarcity of field data poses challenges to accurately assessing runoff behavior and spatial distribution. The study relied on a Digital Elevation Model (DEM) derived from SRTM (Shuttle Radar Topography Mission data) data with a spatial resolution of 30 meters, along with climatic data from the Al-Zintan meteorological station covering the period (2000–2024). These datasets were processed and analyzed within ArcMap 10.8 to extract and evaluate the basin’s morphometric characteristics. The results revealed that the basin exhibits moderate to high relief and an elongated shape that limits flow velocity and contributes to a relatively slow hydrological response. The morphometric indicators also indicate that the basin’s form is influenced by structural and geological factors. The study concludes that digital elevation models and GIS techniques are highly effective tools for analyzing drainage basins and supporting water resource management strategies in arid regions. Key words: Hydrographic network – Morphometric parameters – Digital Elevation Model – Geographic Information System – Al-Zintan
