Recovery patterns also differ by stroke phase. Rapid functional gains are most evident in the acute and subacute periods, during which approximately 70% of total recovery potential is achieved (Bernhardt et al. 2017a; Boyd et al. 2017). Beyond six months, spontaneous recovery plateaus, and further improvements rely heavily on high-intensity, targeted interventions that optimize residual motor capacity (Pollock et al. 2014; Richardson et al. 2021). In this context, interventions such as Constraint-Induced Movement Therapy and Neuromuscular Electrical Stimulation are particularly relevant, as they simultaneously promote behavioral engagement and cortical reorganization, thereby offering promising avenues for enhancing upper extremity outcomes in chronic stroke survivors (Abdullahi et al. 2020; Dboba et al. 2023).
